Blacks Hotel was built in 1937 and is Art Deco Style, and the refurbishments have kept to this style as much as possible.
Without taking anything away from the authenticity and character of the main bar, publican Steve Chapman and wife Annie have also earned thumbs up from regulars for making the premises much lighter and more conducive for socialising. Rail Trail guests can look forward to a warm welcome, tall tales from locals and hearty pub-style meals.

Facilities:

During winter 2007 ten ensuites were installed, ten double rooms totally refurbished. New floor coverings, new paint, new beds, new everything! Not since it was built in the 1930’s has art deco inspired Blacks Hotel undergone such major renovation. There is a new deck area off the dining room with wheelchair access, there is also wheelchair access to the Hotel rooms.

Payment Policy:

A deposit of 50% of the booking value is required to secure your reservation. This can be paid via credit card or a cheque.

Cancellation Policy:

Your deposit may be forfeited at Black's discretion if you cancel your booking. Cancellations made within 48 hours of arrival may incur a charge of one night's accommodation.

Additional Information:

Although Ophir is only 2km along a flat tarmac road from the Rail Trail at Omakau, accommodation and bar guests are welcome to call on the Blacks free courtesy van. The van is also available to take to the Rail Trail at Auripo guests who only want to ride or walk down the Poolburn Gorge
